Bundle price: $10 for 4 sets ($2.50 a set). Bought one at a time, these sets cost $12.
Sets in this bundle
- The Sinking Balloon (5-PS1-1, Matter Is Made of Particles). A helium party balloon floats on the ceiling. Two days later, it lies small and wrinkly on the floor. It never popped. Where did the gas go?
- The Maple Mystery (5-PS1-2, Conservation of Matter). Sugar makers boil about 40 buckets of maple sap to get just 1 bucket of syrup. Did boiling destroy the rest? Where did all that weight go?
- The Sorting Machine (5-PS1-3, Properties of Materials). A truck dumps one big jumble of cans, bottles, jars, and paper at a recycling plant. Machines sort it into piles of steel, aluminum, plastic, paper, and glass. How can a machine tell what each thing is made of?
- Lady Liberty Turns Green (5-PS1-4, Mixing Substances: Is It a New Substance?). In 1886 the Statue of Liberty was shiny and brown, like a new penny. Today she is green, and nobody painted her. Where did the green come from?
